What is the difference between Court Record Searches and Database Records?
There are two primary methods to research criminal records: court records searches and instant database records searches. Court record searches provide more focused and accurate data, while database searches provide an excellent supplement for the researcher to broaden the scope of the search with a wider range of resources.
Criminal Court Records
These searches require physical access to criminal court records (either onsite or via a direct connection to the live electronic court system). Both require a live researcher to research records. This method is recommended as the primary and most accurate method for researching a subjects' background.
Criminal Database Records
Although less accurate than court record searches, database records provide a powerful and inexpensive way to widen the scope of an existing background investigation.
